Thiostar (Thiamethoxam 25% WG) is a pesticide formulation that contains thiamethoxam as the active ingredient. This formulation is primarily used to control a wide range of insect pests in various agricultural and horticultural crops. Thiostar is absorbed quickly by plants and transported to all of its parts, including pollen, where it acts to deter insect feeding. An insect can absorb it in its stomach after feeding, or through direct contact, including through its tracheal system. The compound gets in the way of information transfer between nerve cells by interfering with nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the central nervous system, and eventually paralyzes the muscles of the insects.
Benefits:
Broad-Spectrum Insect Control: Thiamethoxam is known for its ability to control a wide range of insect pests, including aphids, thrips, whiteflies, leafhoppers, and various soil-dwelling pests.
Systemic Action: Thiamethoxam acts systemically, as it is taken up by the plant and moves throughout its vascular system. This provides protection against pests that feed on treated plants.
Residual Activity: This pesticide can offer residual protection against pests, ensuring continued control over time.
Mode of Action: Thiamethoxam acts on the central nervous system of insects, disrupting their normal functioning and ultimately leading to their death."
Usage and crops:
Crops: Rice, Cotton, Vegetables, Groundnut, Cumin.
Targeted pest: Stem borer, Gall Midge, Leaf folder, Brown Plant Hopper, White-backed Plant Hopper, Green Leaf Hopper, Thrips
Dose:
5 - 10 gm per 15 litres water
